Ultima online world map
While most people only think of cartography in terms of decoding maps to find buried treasure the skill can also be used to create maps of your surroundings. Sea charts can be used by fisherman, either to plot a circular course to bring them back to shore at the end of their fishing trip or to sail to an area where they might find sunken treasure.
Introduced in publish 105, cartography can also increase the dig radius from the treasure spot on treasure maps as follows:
- 0 to 50.9 skill gives a 1 tile radius (in other words, you must dig the exact correct spot of the chest)
- 51 to 80.9 skill gives a 2 tiles radius
- 81 to 99.9 skill gives a 3 tiles radius
- 100 skill gives a 4 tiles radius
So, how do you get started on the road to becoming a grand master cartographer? First visit the local mapmaker and ask him to teach you, for a small fee you’ll gain skill up to around 30. You’ll find this individual in one of the following locations:
| Britain | The Oaken Oar | 10o53’S 7o1’E” | |
| Buccaneer’s Den | Pirates Provisioner | 55o11’S 99o50’E | |
| Jhelom | Sailor’s Keeper | 173o4’N 9o0’E | |
| Moonglow | The Scholars Goods | Navigator's World Map I love using the Navigator's World Map!!!! Adding MIB/SOS to the In-Game World MapYou are using an out of date browser. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. Fishing up SOS treasure chests can be a somewhat relaxing way to make some great gold, but it's only efficient if you plan to fish up several chests at once. If you have a bunch of SOSes lying around and want to see all of their locations, you'll want to add them to your in-game World Map. When you double click an SOS, it will open and give you the longitude and latitude coordinates of the SOS. You can use these coordinates to find the location, but it's tricky because in Ultima Online, longitude and latitude are not centered on the center of the world but on Lord British's throne. That makes it very tricky to find exact coordinates because sometimes a north coordinate will actually be in the south, or an east coordinate in the west. The more accurate and efficient way to find an SOS location is to use Razor to find the x and y coordinates of each SOS and add them to a csv file which can then be edited and used to show all of your SOSes on the World Map. NOTE: This post is just about adding t FAQThe most common question that I get is "How do I print this on multiple pages?" I do it with Corel Photopaint (the program that I used to create it). I am not aware of any shareware or freeware programs that will allow printing on multiple pages. If you know of one, please let me know, and I will post it here. Netscape and MSIE WILL NOT print multiple pages!Straylight sent me this note... I don't have Excel, so I couldn't test it myself... It is quite easy to print out any size using Excel. Just insert the JPG into the spreadsheet and make it any size you like. It will print however many pages it needs. The second most common question, is that some people can't load the maps in their browser. As a result, I am supplying all of the larger maps zipped. Get it Printed! The only thing that could be better than having a copy of the map on your computer is to have a copy of it on your wall...That's right, you can now get a professionally printed copy of the Ultimate UO Map for yourself. WebCity got in contact with us, and let us know that they can make printed copies of the UO maps... At an extremely good price. We have received a copy of the map, and it looks exceptio Looking for help making a map of Ultima OnlineI’ve only really just been dabbling with WM until I started on the same thing. I got all keen and splashed out on the professional version to try and build my own reimagining of Britannia based on the UO map. Eventually I plan on importing into the whole thing into Unreal Engine. I’ve had to make a couple of compromises with size. the whole map (including all the islands) works out at 96km x 96km and working on the basis of importing 2km tiles. While it’s not going to be my view of a life-sized Britannia, when you consider that where Empath Abbey would be to the nearest mountains is like 8-10km, it’s one hell of a hike for a player … and that’s a lot of forest. And I’ve had to invent a few landmarks to make the maps a bit more interesting as well. Even with my compromises, there’s a lot of space to fill and the UO map is a little sparse in interesting detail. Below is a link to a couple of screenshots so far. I’ve been concentrating on the Yew area, but sculpted Buccaneer’s Den early on to get some ideas and techniques going. I had to restart 3 times before I got it right. |
