These chemicals are used to make the litter clump, not to mention chemicals to lower dust and reduce odors. Cats will always track litter from the litter box around the house and I would rather not have poisonous chemicals from other litters in my home. I have multiple cats and this litter clumps really well, naturally, no chemicals and no issues at all. I also just flush the litter down the toilet which you cannot do with other litters.
