World of warcraft guild name change

Starting in Patch 11.1.5, you can rename your guild once per year at a price…

We’ve datamined multiple new global strings that hint at a guild renaming feature in World of Warcraft’s Patch 11.1.5. The strings let us know everything about this feature.

Once per year, guild masters will be able to rename their guild for a sum of gold that’s taken directly from the guild bank. For a limited time, they can refund the guild rename.

Global Strings

Here’s a list of all the new global strings tied to the new feature:

  • GUILD_RENAME_DESCRIPTION – Please enter the desired name for your guild. Test if your guild name is unique. The guild renaming can be done once a year.
  • GUILD_RENAME_EDITBOX_INSTRUCTIONS – Enter New Guild Name
  • GUILD_RENAME_OPTIONS_DESCRIPTION – Here are your guild rename options:
  • GUILD_RENAME_OPTIONS_DESCRIPTION_DISABLED – The Guild Rename feature is currently disabled, check back later.
  • GUILD_RENAME_OPTIONS_REFUND – I want Guild Renaming refund|n(Time remaining to refund: %s)
  • GUILD_RENAME_OPTIONS_RENAME_AVAILABLE – I want to rename my guild
  • GUILD_RENAME_OPTIONS_RENAME_COOLDOWN – I want to rename my guild|n(available in %s)
  • GUILD_RENAME_COMMAND_DO_RENAME – Renam

Starting on April 22nd, players will be able to purchase guild name changes using in-game gold in The War Within. Guild name changes will be available from Guild Masters in major cities and will cost 200,000 gold. When this change goes live, the Guild Name Change service will be removed from the Blizzard shop.

Currently, Guild Name Changes are $20 in the Shop, the same price as a WoW Token. WoW Token value fluctuates, but they currently average around 250,000 gold on US realms. Guild Name Changes should therefore still be obtainable with real-world money by purchasing a WoW Token instead.

This announcement may have also given us a likely launch date for Patch 11.1.5, which is currently on the PTR. April 22nd would make sense since the patch contains an update for the Children’s Week holiday, which begins on April 28th.

11.1.5 date confirmed then, as this is a part of that patch.

Not surprising as the Children’s Week event starts that following Sunday, and the patch has an update to the event.

Could the achievement for the 5th Warbank Slot Purchase become a Feat of Strength achievement? That 2.5 mil gold cost for 100% Character achievements isn’t a pretty sight.
