I have a confession to make: I’ve felt a bit like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas lately, when it comes to the holidays. I still go to friend and family dinners, and I exchange a few gifts, but I haven’t decorated in a long while. It all seems like a lot of work to be enjoyed for such a short time. And the older I’ve grown, the more my friends and I have gotten away from exchanging gifts. Maybe it’s shallow of me, but I always felt part of the fun of Christmas, or any time really, was finding something to gift someone, something especially for them. This year, I was saved from my Grinch-y self by an invitation to visit the Osthoff Resort on Elkhart Lake, which boasts a Christmas market in Wisconsin.
I’d never heard of Elkhart Lake, but via a quick Google search, I learned that it was the perfect place to find some Christmas spirit. There’s something about a small town all dressed up in tinsel, street lamps glowing, and a heavy sky promising snow that pulls you in and makes you feel like Christmas is the best time of the year. Each year, The Osthoff Resort's annual Old World Christmas Market draws international and regional exhibitors displaying their specialty products in booths adorned in fragrant swags of evergreens and thousands of twinkling white lights. The unique and one-of-a-kind items available to shoppers continue to make the Old World Christmas Market one of the most famous, popular, and well-attended holiday events in the Midwest.
Market attendance lies between 14,000 and 20,000 guests each year traveling from the local area of Sheboygan, Green Bay, Fox Cities, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Madison, Kenosha, Racine, the Chicagoland Area, Michigan, Minnesota, and beyond. As the arrival of the Christmas Market transforms the beautiful grounds of The Osthoff Resort into a winter wonderland, exhibitors and shoppers need not fret the cold weather as this event takes place inside a HEATED grand tent the size of a football field.

The 2025 Old World Christmas Market will be open daily from 10 AM - 5 PM, December 5-14, 2025. Admission is $7 per adult, children 14 and under are complimentary with an adult ticketholder. Discounted ticket prices for groups of 20 or more are available. Reminiscent of the centuries-old Christkindlesmarkt of Nüremberg, Germany, the 27th annual Old World Christmas Market at The Osthoff Resort offers the warmth and merriment of this Old World tradition.
For ten consecutive days, guests stroll the aisles of a grand heated tent bedecked with fragrant boughs of fresh evergreens and the tantalizing scents of roasted almonds as they browse for unique and specialty items among international and regional artisans.
